Ikea Standard UK Picture Frame Sizes For Artists & Photographers

here we look at Ikea Picture Frame Sizes.
As a professional giclée printer & picture framer, I know that presentation matters. While many of my clients opt for high-quality, custom-made frames to match the calibre of their fine art prints, I also recognise that cheaper affordable off the shelf readymade frames, like Ikea picture frames, can be a practical solution for those looking for a lower budget option.

Why Lot’s of People Choose IKEA Frames

IKEA frames are widely available, budget-friendly, and come in a variety of clean, contemporary styles. For artists selling mounted prints or photographers displaying work temporarily, they offer a no-fuss, economical framing solution that’s easy for customers to replace or replicate at home. They are also a great option for your customer if they are just ordering a print. As such it can be a big selling point offering prints and mounted prints that will fit in Ikea frames.

While they may not match the finish or longevity of premium bespoke frames, they’re often “good enough” for those on a tight budget — especially when paired with high quality fine art printing.

Prints and Mounts to Fit IKEA Frame Sizes

I often get asked to either print or mount artwork in a higher quality conservation mount to fit Ikea frame sizes. By opting to have everything correct and the time of printing, it means the images or mounted images can drop strait into popular Ikea frame sizes, saving you time and effort while maintaining a professional look. Whilst some frames come with a mount, many customers choose to discard this and replace with a higher quality conservation whitercore mountboard. Some of the standard mountboards can have narrow sides or much wider sides compare to the bottom and top mount margins which can look odd, with a custom mount this can be corrected. For local customers we can also swap out the plastic glazing for real glass or higher quality artglass for an elevated finish.

This guide below lists some of the most popular sizes, this refers to the glass size. This is the size prints or mounts need to be cut to so they drop straight into the frames. If you are using an Ikea mount, please refer to the size of the mount on the product.

We can print and mount to all the below sizes. For further info on Giclée printing and mounting prices, please check out the printing page.
